Loren De Jong // Instructor
Loren De Jong and his family are no strangers to BEST. Associated with BEST since its inception in 1994, Loren has been a BEST instructor and has had all 5 of his children actively involved in BEST. Two of his children have assisted BEST instructors. His son Dale was 1st team all-state in 2006, was named the 3A player of the year in 2006, and was voted to the state tournament all-tournament team in 2005 and 2006. Loren has coached at the high school and college level for 29 years. He is currently in his 24th year as head coach of MOC-Floyd Valley. Loren has won over 450 games as a varsity coach.
Prior coaching stops were Hull Western Christian (assistant boys) Manhattan Christian, MT (Head Boys), and Dordt College (Assistant Mens JV). As a head coach he has led his teams to one state championship, two state runner-up finishes, a third place finish, in 8 total state tournament appearances, and has coached 10 first-team all state players. In addition, Loren has been an assistant on four state tournament teams and played on two state tournament teams.
